Decorating with Red

I love these rooms...it seems that no detail was spared!

And, even with no detail spared, they don't seem too fussy.

These rooms look..."lived in."

I especially like the mixture of new and old...that's my favorite style! It is a style, right?

I love collecting photos that inspire me...even if there is just one tiny thing in the photo that draws me in.
They help me to make sure that I pay attention to the details in our home.

I'm on the lookout for a couple of old shutters for our master bedroom, one of those old benches to serve as a coffee table in my family room, and some of those fabulous decorating books to sit on it!

  1. LOVE red - if you've looked through my blog at all you'll notice nearly every room has some red in it!!!! Also, glad to know you dressed your boys in smocked clothes til age 4 - my 3 1/2 year old boy will still be wearing jon-jons this summer - but I'll move to 2 piece sets come fall when he turns 4, but we'll still throw in some smocked for church and special occasions!!!! He actually prefers that to "big boy" clothes, much to my husbands chagrin. My 5 year old girl will be wearing it until I can' find it any longer - I SO want to keep them "little" forever!!!!

  2. I agree with collecting photos that inspire you, it's qutie good fun and it's interesting to see how I pick lots of similar styles. Most of my inspirational shots have similar features.

  3. I love a touch of red in a room. Such pretty photos! I definatly agree about collecting photos that inspire you - even if it is just a small item. When I save the photos on my computer, I usually try to add the reason why I saved the file in the file name box. (I'm sure I could have worded that so much better but my brain is totally avoiding me right now.) :o)

  4. I love red as well! My favorite colors are golds, greens and reds. It has only taken me 37 yrs to figure that out! ;)
I have made MANY decorating faux paus through the years, but I have finally found the colors that make my heart sing! :)

  5. Did I tell you that I pulled a bench like that out of the dumpster when they gutted my neighbors house?? Painted it black and it's about to go into my hallway. If I find another I will send it your way :]
