The Perfect Date.

Briar Patch in Winter Park, Florida...the perfect brunch.

Our favorite garage sale find...2 new glass lamps!

We love them...they are the perfect addition to our room, which is a constant work in progress...

Glass Milk Containers and a Small Bread Board
I'm sure by now you've figured out how much I love Winter Park, Florida.
We spend out 95% of our date nights there.
This  past weekend we ate a delightful brunch at a wonderful place called
The Briar Patch.
We sat outside under the umbrellas and ate the most
divine breakfast that I've had in a long time.
I had a Western Omelet with and a delicious English Muffin.
He had two pancakes, eggs, toast and bacon.
Best.Bacon.Ever.

We hit some garage sales while we were in Winter Park, and let me just say that...
We scored again!
We found two glass lamp bases from the 60's that look very similar to the ones at Pottery Barn.
The lady said she wanted $2 for each of them.
Apparently, she  had no idea that the glass lamp bases from the 60's are BACK in high demand!
We picked up two lamp kits from Joann Fabrics and two lamp shades from Walmart.
We also had to pick up the rod going down the middle that holds the cord.
No worries.  We're gonna paint the rods...not liking the "brassiness" of them.
We're also going to add shells or a bird's nest in the inside base of it.
Don't you think that'll look better?
We also found the two old glass milk containers and the small bread board.
I think we spent $6 at the garage sales and another $45 for the lamp materials.

I love dating my husband.
Some seasons of life are easier than others, but we always try to make it happen.
Dates make us better partners, better parents, better people.

  1. ok, first of all - what a score. I'm glass lamp envious. I have one that i got from Homegoods, should have bought both and didn't so now my bedroom is lopsided. sigh.
I've got seashells and sea glass in it. Not really super excited about how it looks though.
I haven't been to Briarpatch in ages - it's awesome - do they still have the ice cream case in the front?

  5. I love Briar Patch and Winter Park in general! My fiance and I love the farmer's market on Saturday mornings- we'll stop by Palmano's and get coffee and just walk around! My friend and I may be headed to the Briar Patch for brunch tomorrow before going to see Sex and the City 2. I need to plan to check out some garage sales in that area!

  10. Wow! Look at the steals you got, and in my own backyard. *winking* That is so awesome, I love all your items. Your bedroom looks so warm and cozy, you did a great job with the lamps.

I must get out more often on Fridays instead of Saturdays for yard sales. The past few weeks have been a bit huge bust. LOL.

I've eaten at Briarpatch a few times, they usually have pretty good food. The service- not so much. Park Avenue is so much fun. So glad you got out for a date.
