Some Crayons, a Coloring book and a Brand New Friend.

Our family met the most precious person this past week.
Bao Yuyan came over for dinner at our house, and as far as I know, she survived.
She's a new student at University of Central Florida, and she just arrived from Beijing, China.
She might just be the tiniest person I've ever seen.
I think if she stretched real tall, she could possibly be 4'11 and soaking wet, she might weigh 90 pounds.
Let's just say we felt a little like giants.

Lydia, our daughter, was beyond thrilled to spend time with her, and
I don't  think there was a single toy in our house that didn't get showcased for our new friend.
I think the most exciting thing for Lydia was teaching her what to do with her crayons and coloring book.
It was such a sweet and needed lesson for my kids to learn that she had never colored before in her life.
Even with our best attempts, our kids are still overwhelmed with materialism.
We hope this was the first of many special times we will spend getting to know Bao Yuyan.
There is a special place in our hearts for this sweet girl.
And, I have a strong suspicion that there are more lessons in store.

I work with exchange students from all over the world and it is so wonderful to see how they connect with their host families. Just a good reminder of how similar we all are :) I have linked you in my sidebar, so I can follow along with you and your family. So nice to meet you through Meg's blog!
