While we were home in Georgia, I had several bed skirts made for our home.
My boys got simple box pleated ones for their twin beds, and I chose a pleated one for our master bedroom.
Today I thought I'd show you ours for the master bedroom.
I love {love, love, love} this bed skirt!
...so much that I'm sure it'll be my last one to have made...
For some reason, my husband doesn't believe me.
For some reason, my husband doesn't believe me.
I knew I wanted a material that was durable and neutral, so I went with painters drop cloth.
...this friend calls it: "poor man's linen."
We only have a bed frame, so our king size bed is on risers, which makes the bed sit high off the floor.
{great for storage}
The downside to having your bed on risers is that you usually can't buy a bed skirt that's long enough.
This is the other reason that I went with painters drop cloth...it's affordable.
The other thing that I've added to our room is that fabulous burnt orange frame...
I scored it at TJ Maxx, and it's the best $6 I've spent all weekend.
I think the only thing I'm missing in our room is a huge bolster pillow across the front....
I'm pretty sure I just figured out what I'm doing with my left over painter cloth!
Do you like the artwork above our bed?

If you're interested in them or prints similar to them, you can find them very reasonably at:
His name is Michael Chad Barrett, and you'll love his work!
I have these butterfly and floral ones above our bed and I also have some of his bird prints in our family room.
His work has been featured in several homes that have been featured in magazines,
so I kind of feel like I know someone famous.
{smile}
When we connected on facebook a while back he, very generously, sent me all of the prints that I now own!
See...I told you he was kind.

ReplyDeleteI am so jealous and I just redid my master bedroom. This is so beautiful. I love the artwork, shutters, and the bedskirt is amazing. The person who sewed them should open an etsy shop for the rest of us to buy these beautiful bedskirts too.

I really love that! I need to make a new bedskirt for our master bedroom, and this would really go well with my bed. I have a similar spread.
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought of it, and it's an inspired idea. We also lifted our bed. It's not on a bed frame, but it was still lover to the ground than I like. Great idea.
I'm visiting from Met Monday. I'm so glad that I did!
This is awesome, those painters tarps can be used for everything, I love it!

Absolutely gorgeous! Your room looks like it came out of a magazine! Stopping by from DIY showoff : )
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I've yet to use painter's dropcloths to make anything, but you certainly have me inspired. I can't decide if I like best the pleated ones or the gathered ones you have done - they both are so amazing.
ReplyDeleteWho knew something so serviceable could be so versatile and pretty all at the same time?
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely lovely. I keep seeing dropcloths at the HD but pass them up. This has me thinking twice!
