There is no place like Home...

                          Source: Here

We made sugar cookies today and decorated them together.
They never turn out like any of the pictures that I show from the fancy magazines.
But, we had so much fun.
everyone got along...
everyone took turns...
everyone helped...
Those are the best days.
The best part was watching the kiddos cross the street together and give a few of them to Mrs. Susan.

I also made a big pot of chili for lunch.
I made it as I talked to my friend, Tracey, and she gave me a new recipe with 72 items in it.
Just kidding.
There weren't 72 items in it, but there was a lot more than my recipe calls for.
It was sooooo good.
I've mentioned before about how a couple of boys here at our house are super picky eaters.
Textures really freak them out.
Anyway, I make what I make and they eat what I give them,
but sometimes I might have to give them what I like to call the *stink eye*
and it is always accompanied with the stern mama voice.
One of them has still been known to throw up taco soup right at the table.
I'm just saying.
I want you to fully understand what this cook goes through!
So, as they were coming to the table...complaining about the chili...
it came to me.
Thank God for his Epiphany.
I told them that they would eat the chili and not complain one bit
OR
I'd make rice and beans three times a day for a whole week.

They have both been to other countries and they know that most people survive on rice and beans.
They believed me and they ate it and they didn't complain a bit.

Today was full of moments.
Moments that I sometimes take for granted.
I listened to Lydia singing all the presidents names while I typed this post...
I watched from the corner of my eye as one of our boys colored
and listened to the sounds of sweet victory as the other one beat  his dad in a video game.

HOME
There is no other place like it.
{even when I'm giving the *stink eye* over a bowl of chili}

  1. Sounds like your day was fun. But I know what you go through with picky eaters. And there's nothing wrong with *stink eye*.

I've always been so grateful that my boys love every food and I never had to give the nasty look ~ they just threw curve balls at me with other things! :)
