okay.
i took pictures of the ornaments that we made today.
...the ones that meg showed us that she did with her kids.
ours turned out so cute...the kids loved this craft.
i also took pictures of the awesome snowflake garlands that my kids made while i was gone last week.
they hung them beautifully on our wall of sliding glass doors where our snowman ornament tree sits.
rie made some with her kids that you can see.
about the pictures.
i was trying to use my fancy camera to capture some "night" pictures with the christmas lights glistening.
i've read darcy's post on bokeh too many times to not be able to FIGURE IT OUT.
that was me screaming.
it.is.frustrating.to.have.a.fancy.camera.and.not.know.enough.about.how.to.use.it.
so, instead of showing you pictures of all the things i wanted to show you...
i decided to show you really awesome pictures of a new blog that i found.
her home is beautiful.
and the pictures that she takes of her home are better than beautiful.
there are people who teach themselves everything they know about their cameras.
i'm not one of those people.
i need to sit with someone who knows what they're doing and have them teach me while i hold my camera.
stinks being a kinesthetic learner sometimes.
that's the truth and i'm sticking to it.
you're gonna wanna go visit the swenglish home and see more of her picture taking skillZ.

Oh no, photography can be so frustrating at times, especially when you know the shot you want and your camera won't cooperate. You'll be a pro in no time!
ReplyDeletethis is just my style~ you'll get the hang of your camera soon enough. It takes awhile. I'm still learning myself.
ReplyDeleteYes Helena have a great blog...all the things sche show us is so so so so great !! i like her style and her blog !!!....just like yours......have a wonderful week darling.....love love love Ria....xxxx......
ReplyDeleteThat blog is amazing! I love everything about her home. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI am totally the way you are with the camera. I've read my manual 10 times, spent hours online trying to figure out how to properly use the settings. But I almost always end up in one of the auto modes because I can't take a good picture with my own settings. I just don't "get" it. I need someone to sit down with me as well. I feel like a moron when it comes to photography!
Count me in your group of "hands on learning".
ReplyDeleteI am seriously thinking of taking a class. My husband says, "just read the manual". It might as well be in french. Because I don't understand it in english. Love your blog. Merry Christmas.
Oh my goodness. Did you write this post just for me?? I have my fancy new camera and find it soooo difficult to figure out. I need someone to take me by the hand and teach me. And then I need cheat sheets so I won't forget what I learned. It's so overwhelming. I'm signed up for classes in Jan. and Feb. Hopefully they can make it all come into focus:) I promise if I get it...I'll teach you too!!
ReplyDeleteThat home is perfect. Off to check it out now.
Tara - I'm so in love with 1. the photos, 2. your music and 3. the link to another blog teaching me all about how to use a 'fancy' camera!
ReplyDeleteI am off to go take 'classes' about my camera -
Can't wait to read all about it! Hugs & Merry Christmas!
You know it's funny...I've often thought 'I wish my pictures came out as good as Tara's' when I see some of your blog posts. I don't have a fancy camera...partially because I'm afraid I would frustrate myself. =) I took a photo class back in college...and have forgotten everything I learned about light..shutter speeds..etc. Don't sell yourself short...you are an excellent photographer!
ReplyDeleteMmm...love this house.
ReplyDeleteI want to get a new fancy camera this week. I keep procrastinating, worried about making the wrong choice.
I'm sure everthing will come together for you :)
